Whether the weather has been gray, snowy or even sunny for you these past few weeks, the one thing I knew I needed was a bit of yellow. My parents have been repainting my childhood bedroom its original shade, "Lemon Chiffon", so I'll honor that sunshine-y shade with plenty of yellow posts!
I was only slightly embarrassed when I realized we had a date for Indian food every Friday night for weeks on end, so we decided to switch it up with burgers and beers by the beach. That, and we ate Indian on Thursday. We took a long walk through Golden Gate Park afterwards, and came home to fall asleep without any alarms set! John let me luxuriate in bed on Saturday morning while he picked up savory scones, and we spent the day side by side at our matching computers; he edited a suite of arrangements and compositions by Les Six composers for an upcoming masterclass, while I caught up all the loveliness I'd missed last week on your blogs. We decided to skip lunch in favor of linner at our favorite taco place, and walked home at 6:30 as everyone else was heading out. A screening of Beer Wars made us thankful for the batch of stout John is brewing in the closet, and a discussion about his dream of operating a distillery had us feeling excited about the future.
We decided to make a big breakfast on Sunday morning, and I guess we hadn't gotten our fill of guacamole the night before because we whipped up a giant bowl to go along with our potato and egg taquitos. I sipped a cup of tea while flipping through Matchbook's anniversary issue and made time for yoga while John dedicated himself to schoolwork and practice. We headed to Andronico's that afternoon to stock up on provisions for this week and a Moroccan-inspired Sunday supper. It was perfect with a glass of rosé–the very opposite of a Superbowl Sunday!
Tell me, did you watch the big game this weekend? What else were you up to?

Ah! I love your weekend posts! Burgers and Beers by the beach!? My kind of girl. Have a gorgeous week, Lena. xx
ReplyDeleteis there anything better than the opposite of a superbowl sunday? I think not. :]
ReplyDeleteboring weekend over here.. lots of homework, but I did make time to go to spin class and do a little shopping.
Dreams are wonderful!!!I'll order his first batch when he opens the distillery!!Guacamole & Indian food...YUM!
ReplyDeleteI love linner. It feels so nice to beat the crowds! haha I did watch the game, and I picked the Giants as "my team" about an hour before it started. I've always been lucky like that. haha
ReplyDeleteHad a lovely and relaxing weekend. Although Mila has caught a bad cold, which is fun for no one. I'm hoping Matt and I can avoid it!
ReplyDeleteI want your life pretty please. I am calling you this evening on my trek to the Windy City :) Love you!
ReplyDeleteOooh this is such a pretty bouquet! What Indian restaurant do you go to?! My brother will be heading to San Fran for school, so I'll have to let him know where the good stuff is :-)
ReplyDeleteYour weekends always sound so fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your weekend posts! I ate so much guac on Sunday. It was sooooo gooood! Addictive, really.
ReplyDeleteI did watch the superbowl. Mainly for the food!
Yellow is my FAVORITE color ever so I'm excited for your yellow stage.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can ever tire of Indian- the only thing I regret about Indian food is that it doesn't photograph well so it doesn't satiate that part of the culinary experience for me.
Clearly, we're cosmically connected (at least through color): see today's post.
ReplyDeleteYou should share a piece of John's sometime. We'd love to hear it! Another lovely weekend, walking to meals and around the city?! You live my dream life. Working on getting the Husband to move to the city and realize he doesn't need so much land and a tractor.
ReplyDeleteWe ended up going to Jared's parents to watch the game. Love college football but care nothing about the NFL. I do like the snacks and singing that come with the Superbowl though. I wait for the halftime show :)
ReplyDeleteMe? Watch the game? Nope! Actually, I was forced into the last few minutes of it. Bob ended up skipping out on a Super Bowl party, so where did he want to watch the rest of the game? At our house, of course!
ReplyDeleteThat's okay though. I got to spend most of the Sunday in pjs and watching whatever I wanted. Can't complain about that!
I do love a bit of yellow. SO you guys really love Indian food! I have a similar obsession but with Thai food. So good!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely life you live! PS. I love that bouquet and will have to pin it!
ReplyDeletenothing like a beautiful bouquet to brighten up a winter day. (rhymed, yes!)
ReplyDeletecome enter my giveaway! i'm giving away a really awesome scrapbooking software from my memories suite! :)
anticipation
your weekends should be made into a book.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous weekend, as always!
ReplyDeleteWe (sort of) watched the game, with a bottle of wine and plenty of yummy snacks, which made it much more enjoyable haha.
And Mark has been full of distillery dreams himself, lately -- if only you were on this coast!! (or vice versa ;)
I love guacamole; I can seriously eat it every night & be soooo happy. It's pretty pathetic, but there are far worse addictions, especially if your chips are healthy!
ReplyDeleteWe went standard Superbowl Sunday fare. It was tasty but as a result I'm now on a juice fast! lol Perhaps we should've gone your route.
ReplyDeleteOh what a lovely weekend and what a cheerful bouquet for a Monday! Love that your parents are painting your old room yellow...again! XO
ReplyDeletei had to take out to dinner a friend who was visiting from LA and then watched madonna at the half time and downton abbey... what a combo!!! haha!
ReplyDeleteSUNDAY MORNING BREAKFAST. Send some my way! Those flowers are SO beautiful, Lena. Your taste is exquisite.
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful. And if you guys ever operate a distillery we'll be there! Touring breweries, distilleries and wineries is one of our favorite hobbies!
ReplyDeleteLena!! Did you know that Martha Stewart Weddings pinned this from you? :) http://pinterest.com/pin/86764730290945416/
