Sunshine

Monday, February 6, 2012

Whether the weather has been gray, snowy or even sunny for you these past few weeks, the one thing I knew I needed was a bit of yellow. My parents have been repainting my childhood bedroom its original shade, "Lemon Chiffon", so I'll honor that sunshine-y shade with plenty of yellow posts!

I was only slightly embarrassed when I realized we had a date for Indian food every Friday night for weeks on end, so we decided to switch it up with burgers and beers by the beach. That, and we ate Indian on Thursday. We took a long walk through Golden Gate Park afterwards, and came home to fall asleep without any alarms set! John let me luxuriate in bed on Saturday morning while he picked up savory scones, and we spent the day side by side at our matching computers; he edited a suite of arrangements and compositions by Les Six composers for an upcoming masterclass, while I caught up all the loveliness I'd missed last week on your blogs. We decided to skip lunch in favor of linner at our favorite taco place, and walked home at 6:30 as everyone else was heading out. A screening of Beer Wars made us thankful for the batch of stout John is brewing in the closet, and a discussion about his dream of operating a distillery had us feeling excited about the future.

We decided to make a big breakfast on Sunday morning, and I guess we hadn't gotten our fill of guacamole the night before because we whipped up a giant bowl to go along with our potato and egg taquitos. I sipped a cup of tea while flipping through Matchbook's anniversary issue and made time for yoga while John dedicated himself to schoolwork and practice. We headed to Andronico's that afternoon to stock up on provisions for this week and a Moroccan-inspired Sunday supper. It was perfect with a glass of rosé–the very opposite of a Superbowl Sunday!

Tell me, did you watch the big game this weekend? What else were you up to?

  9. Yellow is my FAVORITE color ever so I'm excited for your yellow stage.

I don't think I can ever tire of Indian- the only thing I regret about Indian food is that it doesn't photograph well so it doesn't satiate that part of the culinary experience for me.

  11. You should share a piece of John's sometime. We'd love to hear it! Another lovely weekend, walking to meals and around the city?! You live my dream life. Working on getting the Husband to move to the city and realize he doesn't need so much land and a tractor.

  12. We ended up going to Jared's parents to watch the game. Love college football but care nothing about the NFL. I do like the snacks and singing that come with the Superbowl though. I wait for the halftime show :)

  13. Me? Watch the game? Nope! Actually, I was forced into the last few minutes of it. Bob ended up skipping out on a Super Bowl party, so where did he want to watch the rest of the game? At our house, of course!

That's okay though. I got to spend most of the Sunday in pjs and watching whatever I wanted. Can't complain about that!

  18. What a fabulous weekend, as always!

We (sort of) watched the game, with a bottle of wine and plenty of yummy snacks, which made it much more enjoyable haha.

And Mark has been full of distillery dreams himself, lately -- if only you were on this coast!! (or vice versa ;)

  19. I love guacamole; I can seriously eat it every night & be soooo happy. It's pretty pathetic, but there are far worse addictions, especially if your chips are healthy!
