Can you believe steel gray–arguably the most industrial color on Earth–was the inspiration for this romantic Southern celebration? Because I sure couldn't, but now I can't imagine a lovelier palette!
Denee and David were married in their Charleston, South Carolina hometown; they chose the historic French Huguenot Church as the ceremony site both for its history and its architectural beauty, and The Wickliffe House for dinner and dancing.
The Wickliffe House's classic architecture inspired the white and steel gray color palette, and the understated monogram invitations by Elf Letterpress with calligraphy by Lisa Ridgely. Denee wore a strapless gown and glittering sash by Martina Liana, ruffled peep toes by Nina and an Erin Cole veil, along with a breathtaking pair of teardrop earrings. David and his groomsmen wore classic black suits, and bridesmaids donned knee-length black dresses of their choosing.
The newlyweds asked some of their favorite local bands to play during the cocktail hour and reception, held in a tent on the lawn and catered by Mediterra Catering. A friend, Kim West, arranged the flowers, including the lovely white arrangements and the anemone studded bouquets. Their day-of coordinator, Emmy of Peacock Events, brought their careful planning to life and organized little surprises for the newlyweds, like that traditional shower of rice as they exited the church. Vania and Christine of Simply Bloom captured this gorgeous celebration, and were generous enough to share it with me!
Tell me, what's your favorite element of this beautiful wedding?
I see it and I still cannot believe it. They look so happy, it looks like she was never even a mini-bridezilla. I love girls like that. Weddings are such a beautiful event.

ReplyDeleteAt first, it was her shoes. Then, it was the church. Then, it was the fact that her bridesmaids wore black dresses of their own selection. Wow, what a gorgeous wedding.
