Heavenly

Doesn't that look like heaven? Big open space, the top down and no one but you and your special someone to soak it all up?

Our weekend was quiet, and thank goodness for that–I don't know about you, but I needed some time to recover from the madness of the holidays! I caught a sniffle that I had no interest in allowing to become a full-blown cold, so we canceled our plans for a small Friday night cocktail party and got into our pjs before 7pm (glamorous, right?). We ordered spicy Indian food to help clear my head and settled in for a double feature: Back to the Future Parts I & II; No. 2 is my personal favorite, but we fell asleep less than half way through.

We spent Saturday catching up: on practice, on blogging, on trashy TV, the works. It felt so good to do nothing at all after a busy week back. We ended up giggling that night over homemade pizzas and jam jars full of our favorite rosé, and were sound asleep long before the holiday light displays in our neighborhood were switched off. After a big Sunday brunch (damn that John, thwarting my plans to go out with beautiful breakfasts in bed!), we headed to San Francisco Brewcraft, John's personal heaven, where he finally befriended the owner and left with all the mixings for an oatmeal stout. That afternoon, we threw an impromptu beer brewing soirée, because beer's always more fun to make together and men, it seems, can't resist playing with their new toys. After tacos at Underdogs and bathing with the brewing equipment (John, not me), it was time to call it a night!

So tell me, what were you up to this weekend? I hope you got to enjoy the gorgeous weather everyone seemed to have, and that you'll share your very favorite Back to the Future, too!

  2. Oatmeal stout is one of my favorite beers! My weekend was low key as well. Dinner with our neighbor, a little bit of shopping and a whole lot of relaxing. I'm with you, I need down time after the holidays to de-stress.

  3. Sounds like a great weekend! Mike and I started on Friday with dinner at a friend's house while sitting in front of the fire (it was lovely), then spent Saturday catching up on stuff and yesterday was all about relaxing: we exercised, then we chilled, watched the Broncos football game while having a living room picnic. It was a perfectly fantastic weekend in my book :)

  7. I love the use of old cards in wedding photos. I have the same cold-a-brewing. I feel like a faucet today so you can guess how exciting my weekend was but I did catch an awesome flick - Contagion!

  14. Mine weekend was similar in that a cold stole one full day of it. I'm intriqued by your home brewing experience! Hubby has never ventured beyond a Mr. Beer Kit!

  22. I am a firm believer that the moment you feel a sniffle you get a pho, tom kha soup, or indian...good call!

  23. What a great photo! How would you set up something like that for yourself - you'd have to have a day after shoot, right? Speaking of Back to the Future - how hard is it to rent a DeLorean for one of those? :)

  25. It really does sound heavenly. Just reading about your weekend makes me wish today was Friday!

It seems everyone's getting sick these days. Feeling a bit stuffy myself. But I'm drinking tons of green tea in the hopes that it will work and I won't have to take any gross cold medicine.

  26. Please tell me what your favorite Rose is. That pink wine gets a bad wrap and is automatically stuck in White Zin boxed wine hell. I have a hard time finding any to choose from and I am trying my hardest to convince my wine loving friends that Rose does not equal white zin.

  27. I felt in love when I saw this photo. The best thing to the couple is that they make exciting and cool in their wedding.

  28. Sounds like one wonderful weekend, minus the sniffles of course! We all need an occasional 48 hour break, just to unwind and decompress. It does a body good!
Can't say my weekend was anywhere near as restful as yours but I will aim for that this weekend!
