Have you ever seen a sweeter bouquet? Roses, stephanotis and hydrangeas tied up in scalloped ribbon and topped with a gold locket–I simply can't resist!
This weekend was, in a word, festive. John finished the semester on Friday, so we celebrated with a late dinner at our favorite Indian restaurant, then came home to watch one of his favorite "holiday" movies, Die Hard. We made a speedy trip to Palo Alto to run some errands on Saturday morning, then indulged in a Champagne and caviar tasting at the Wine Club with friends. We came home to whip up a batch of fleur de sel caramels (that ended up closer to toffee than caramel, and sadly, in the trash) and enjoy a delicious late lunch before heading back out for cocktails and Christmas carols.
Many, many hours (and for John, drinks) later, we headed home–I won't even tell you what time you what time we got to bed, but we missed Sunday morning altogether! After the gorgeous brunch John cooked, I picked up a few last gifts, caught up on work and my favorite blogs and whipped up a fresh batch of caramels; it was a laid back Sunday, the perfect antidote to Saturday's overindulgence!
Tell me, what were you up to this weekend? Anyone put up their holiday decorations, or celebrate the season with friends?

I have to know what you order when you go out for Indian. I cook it at home at least once a week, but I have never eaten Indian food at a restaurant!
ReplyDeleteMy weekend was boring. Bryan had to work both Sat & Sun.. which means no fun for anyone. :\
Sounds like a lovely weekend! My favorite part of the weekend was enjoying the holiday cheer & pop-up shops in Bryant Park. Love this season!!
ReplyDeleteSaturday I was at the studio all day long but had an awesome night eating Mexican food then going to Target. Sunday was crazy with Church and Christmas activities but by the evening it was just me, hunny, and a bunch of friends eating and laughing.
ReplyDeleteI love that "Die Hard" is a holiday movie for you two - so funny!
ReplyDeleteI just want to take a big whiff of that bouquet!
ReplyDeleteWe did a champangne tasting this weekend as well, my 1st, and I must say, quite spectacular.
Sounds like a good weekend, sometimes missing Sunday morning is worth a fun Saturday night ;)
What a WONDERFUL sounding weekend!!! Boys got the tree....I combatted a cold but got 81 Save the Dates out the door...signed, sealed , delivered!!
ReplyDeleteI just have to say that I love that Die Hard is one of his favorite holiday flicks! Ha.
ReplyDeleteyup- we sure did put up our decorations!
ReplyDeleteLazy Sundays are the best. Ours was semi-relaxing - we had a big client bash the night before and yesterday was spent cleaning and wrapping gifts for incoming guests today!
ReplyDeleteThat bouquet is so special! Any weekend with a champagne tasting sounds good to me!
ReplyDeleteyeah Die Hard screams Christmas :) Not much to report on my weekend. Had an early birthday. Thats about it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend. Beautiful bouquet :)
ReplyDeleteWeekend was a blur! Tree, getting it in the house (task in and of itself that was SO fun), little shopping, lunching w/friends, TRIFLE for an upcoming guest post, tree trimming, relaxing, margaritas and a little champagne to top it off. I love Christmas!
ReplyDeleteLove the locket on that bouquet!
xo,

I have intentions to do some holiday baking this weekend since I never got around to it yesterday. if I make something like candy maybe I won't be as tempted to overindulge.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, this bouquet is absolutely gorgeous. I love the scalloped ribbon!
ReplyDeleteWe were supposed to get our tree this weekend, but my poor dad is sick with the flu! So we did some more decorating, and my mom and I hung some lights on our house outside...we weren't very good at it, but it sure was hilarious trying! :) xoxox
What a cute idea ♥
ReplyDeleteHugs and a happy new week to you sunshine :)

ReplyDeletelove your sunday... sometimes it's just OK to take the whole day off!
ReplyDeleteMy weekend was festive too! I did a little flea market shopping with the girls, and company christmas party!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and sweet way to remember your loved ones on your big day! xo style, she wrote
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect weekend! And I love that locket on the bouquet. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love bouquets that have some sort of locket, rosary or something of meaning. My dear you are brave caramels are so hard to resist...even if they come out like toffee! xo
ReplyDeleteI simply love lockets ♥
ReplyDeleteMe and Nicoline have already decorated :)
I've been a short trip to Sweden to visit my cousin this weekend ♥
I brought some little Swedish pine-trees with me that I've put in jars, they make the perfect little Christmas trees for my small apartment!
My weekend was okay. I dyed my hair and spent a lot of time dancing around my room or watching TV. But I should've been studying. I just came home from my calculus final and it was so awful. :( Oh well!
ReplyDeleteThat bouquet is amazing and so sweet.
AHAHA! We watched Die Hard on Saturday night, one of Cory's favorite "Christmas" movies. :)
ReplyDeleteSo I have to further illuminate the fb comment, re: tacos. I ate tacos for dinner on Friday and then tacos for lunch on Saturday. Both times, I was munching and thought, "Hey, Lena eats tacos a lot. I want to hang out with Lena and eat tacos." Then I felt kind of like a creeper because I somehow know your weekend eating habits.
ReplyDeletexo.
I love the idea of the locket! So simple, yet so nice!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I love the shot of her necklace on the door knob!
ReplyDeleteI love that scalloped ribbon!
ReplyDeleteyour caramels sound amazing. I'll have to make some this christmas.
Die Hard! A true favorite of mine, too!
