Do ya'll have a signature scent? After several years perfume free, I've been reunited with my favorite eau parfumee, Bvlgari's Au Thé Vert, and the art of spraying it on each morning feels so fancy and feminine! Did you wear your every day scent for the big day, or choose something singular when you said "I do"?

This weekend was, in a word, wonderful. Mike, John's younger brother, played his first college game as a starter; there's really nothing like watching #39 on CBS Sports as he blocks for touchdowns, runs 15 yards for a easy first down and goes barreling down the field. I was hoarse for screaming on Saturday afternoon, and I'm sure the neighbors considered calling the police! After trips to Michaels and BevMo for Thanksgiving supplies, we spent the evening curled up in bed with West Wing, enjoying the sound of the rain on the window panes that lasted well into Sunday morning.

John brought me breakfast in bed, but we soon set off on our respective missions–John to practice at school, me to comb the local restaurant supply shops for little pie tins and votives. I hurried back home to get out of the rain and curl up with some overdue reading of both the blog and book variety, then whipped up chicken pot pies for dinner–talk about heaven!

What were you up to this weekend? Find any fantastic new reads? I just started Mad Men and Philosophy, and it's terrific!

  1. Lena, that sounds like such a sweet weekend. I worked, a lot, but also spent some time eating delicious tex-mex and setting up Christmas decorations. xo

I adore perfume...I have different scents that I've worn over the years that now bring back different memories...but a constant has been Chanel's mademoiselle and now juicy's viva la juicy.

  7. i have been perfume free for a while. every one I try to put on makes me sneeze. Not sure how that happened, because I use to love it! Back in the day I wore ORIGINS - 'Spring Fever' but it's discontinued now. BOO :( And Clinique Happy - Wish I could find one that didn't bother me...

  8. Ive been stressing out about my perfume. I have 3 kinds I go back and forth between, and 2 of them I've been wearing since I was married to my exhusband. How is that even ok?! They're almost gone, and I think I am going to muster up the courage to try something new.

  9. Oooh chicken pot pies, delish! We had a busy weekend but it was great! We ended the weekend hosting some friends for a pot luck and had a great send off for Thanksgiving week. So much better than being sick...the flu/cold this year is awful!

  12. I'm a Clinique Happy Girl! I wish it was more sophisticated, like the Chloe my Mom wore during my childhood, but I love it anyway.

  13. I've worn the same perfume for the last ten years. It's totally my signature scent.

That's so awesome you got to watch your bro in law on television. So fun!

  15. As I've gotten older, I gravitate to perfume more than body spray. I haven't smelled Au The Vert, but have you tried Bvlgari's Crystalline? I think that's what it's called. It smells so fresh and wonderful. Definitely one of my faves!

  16. Oooh breakfast in bed! You're one lucky lady :-) I think I was too frazzled on the morning of my wedding to remember to put on perfume!

  17. That's my sig scent too! I went without until I flew from Switzerland to Italy on a solo trip and they handed out little towelettes to freshen up in Au The Vert. I saved one for a year before I bought it.

  18. wow breakfast in bed?! I think I've gotten breakfast in bed once and that was quite a few years ago. I dotn really have a signature scent but I do love Lauren by Ralph Lauren. My mom used to wear it all the time and it reminds me of watching her getting dressed for a night out.

  20. Oh, girl, you should send that book my way when you get done with it. Sounds right up my alley! ;)
Your weekend sounds wonderful. I really want to find a good chicken pot pie recipe and make minis out of it! You know how I like mini pies!!! :)

I usually spray on whatever my hands find first in terms of perfume, but there is a rose-scented body spray I spritz on when I get out of the shower, and I use yummy cocoa butter, too. I want to smell like a myriad of things, it seems. :)

I am a huge fan of classic Marc Jacobs perfume... I wear it every.single. day. It smells like gardenias.

I just starting reading Just Kids by Patti Smith... I can't put it down!

  29. How do you always have such perfect weekends? :) I love perfume and am on the hunt for a new bottle since there's only a few drops left of my current one. I've been wearing Victoria's Secret Wish for a few years and it's definitely my signature scent. It's hard to convince myself to get anything different when I'm so used to this one!

Breakfast in bed sounds really romantic.

    Love your choice of perfume...

I wear a different scent for ordinary days and special occasions.

  36. My signature scent is "bouquet" by vera wang. It's feminine and light and I always get compliments. I also really like marc jacobs' "daisy," but so does the entire population at Sephora.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love your writing style?

  37. I don't have one signature scent, but I have a few different ones that I have been using for years, such as several of the Moschino ones (I love their scents!) Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue and so on. I could never have just one favourite, what suits me every day depends on my mood a lot.

  38. I have several signature scents ... but right now I am loving Dior Cherie!

Also, incredibly envious of your whipping up chicken pot pies!
