A shoe shot and a weekend review? How I adore those rare Mondays off, and the fabulous combination of a nude slingback and a fuchsia heart by Vivienne Westwood!

After a busy day at work, I spent Friday evening sipping a champagne cocktail and watching John shake behind the bar at Heaven's Dog. Saturday heralded the start of college football season; we had a hearty breakfast in the morning to prepare for all the excitement, and delicious tacos at Underdogs helped ease the hurt as Tulsa played No. 1 ranked Oklahoma. We spent Sunday running errands in Hayes Valley and soaking up the sunshine; John found a perfect pair of brown brogues at Paolo, and we picked up an outrageous pair of black patent leather loafers with white piping and oversized tassels for my back to school arsenal!

On Sunday night, John and I curled up to watch one of my favorite movies-An American President-which I think might have kick-started dreams of a political career for John. We had another gorgeous "weekend" breakfast on Monday, and I'm convinced there's nothing more decadent than French toast when you'd normally be replying to emails. After cleaning house, blogging for me and arranging for John, practice and a nap, a bowl of Pasta al Pomodoro and a bottle of Vino Nobile de Montepulciano was the perfect laid-back ending to a wonderful weekend.

But the truth is that it was hard to stay in the present these last few days because I'm so looking forward to everything in this coming week! My very dearest friend Kelly (our parents took lamaze class together, and we ended up sharing a nanny until kindergarten) and her boyfriend arrive in San Francisco on Tuesday evening, one of John's high school buddies lands on Friday, and my best pal Becky returns to the Bay after a year in LA on Saturday! I'm looking forward to a week of eating and imbibing, giggling and shopping and two of my favorite girls finally meeting.

What are you looking forward to this week?
