Champagne Cocktail
Soak one raw sugar cube (or the contents of one packet) in Angostura bitters. Fill flute slowly with Champagne and garnish with a lemon twist.
Notes: This just might be the simplest cocktail recipe I've featured, and certainly one of the loveliest. It was featured in Jerry Thomas' The Bon-Vivant's Companion, the first cocktail book published in the United States in 1862, and while it's a classic on its own, it's also delicious with a splash of Calvados! Cheers!
