The couple wanted a traditional wedding followed by a formal dinner reception, and insisted on a timeless, fresh aesthetic. Their ceremony at the Village Chapel of Bald Head Island featured simple hydrangea pew markers that let the Spanish moss and property's own hydrangea bushes positively sing.
The bride wore a strapless lace trumpet gown and a traditional veil with duster from Jenny Lee, purchased at the Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier. A pair of understated Jimmy Choos complimented the bride's aquamarine ring and vintage clutch, both of which honored her late mother. Jennifer also made handkerchiefs from her mother's own wedding gown for her siblings and herself. Gardenias, her mother's favorite flower, were incorporated into the bouquets and worn as boutonnieres, and their scent was enjoyed all night long. Robert, the groomsmen and the couple's fathers wore classic tuxedos, and the bridesmaids wore understated navy cocktail dresses.
After the traditional ceremony, guests headed to the Bald Head Island Golf Club whose outdoor terrace faces the ocean. Fresh arrangements of hydrangea dotted the white linen tables, and escort cards and table names paid tribute to Manhattan, which the couple calls home. Salt Harbor Design arranged the flowers and created the fresh, classic look the couple desired, while Lindsey Cheek of Fifi Cheek was on hand as day-of coordinator, making sure everything happened on schedule.
Atlanta-based band Banks & Shane provided Southern tunes that all generations present enjoyed, and made for a more relaxed, off the cuff reception. A classic cake decorated in buttercream pearls and lace inspired details was baked by Crumb de la Crumb, and proved to be the sweetest ending to the evening. Veil and Bow photographed this classic seaside celebration, and convinced me that some beach weddings are worth getting sand between your toes for!

ReplyDeleteThis is a really beautiful wedding! I had an inquiry as to where the bride and groom got the carriers for the "midnight snack". They're the exact size and shape that I've been looking for, and I wondered if there would be any way to contact the couple, to find out. Thank you!
