Tulum Wedding

Just because a girl's on vacation doesn't mean her love of weddings takes a back seat. In fact, I spent plenty of time in Mexico dreaming about gorgeous destination wedding set against the crystal clear ocean and white sand beaches, and this celebration was my dream come true!

The couple chose Tulum for its beauty, and invited 40 guests for a week of wedding festivities that spanned Halloween. They were inspired by traditional Mexican culture and the stunning setting, and incorporated folk art, tropical leaves and white sand. Rick Leech and Damien Riddell, friends of the newlyweds, designed the save the dates and invitations, dotted with colorful papel picado flags and banners; the couple made sure similar flags and banners from Ay Mujer! were hung around the Cabanas La Luna.

The bride and groom wore J.Crew; Nicole chose a French tulle gown in a perfectly sandy shade and fastened with a vintage pin made by her grandfather that has been passed down through generations in her family. She also wore a flower in her hair, made for her by the Silver Moon. The newlyweds exchanged platinum bands made by a close family friend and a protégé of the bride's grandfather.

Guests joined the barefoot couple for a "cosmic wedding ceremony" lead by locals Charlie and Maria. Each guest played a role in the ceremony, and a five piece Mariachi band dressed all in white serenaded the guests immediately after. They also lead the way to the bar for margaritas–a pretty perfect touch, if you ask me.

Rory and Nicole served a buffet of traditional Yucatan dishes and a tres leches cake topped with a Dia de los Muertes bride and groom. Gwen and Marion of Destination Wedding Tulum helped to coordinate day of details, and Jacob and the staff at La Luna made the week long event feel like a vacation. Alison Bank of First Comes Love Photo was on hand to capture each gorgeous detail, and generous enough to share these incredible images with me!
