Yooli and Michael

I couldn't imagine saying this before I moved to San Francisco, but gray, rainy days are some of my favorites these days; the light makes for perfectly sweet afternoons! And when you combine romantic rain with bright colors, Korean traditions and modern elements, the results are absolutely stunning!

Yooli wore a Casablanca gown that she paired with a lace bolero for the ceremony and a watermelon colored cardigan for the reception; a pair of gorgeous blue MeToo peep toes completed her classic look. Michael wore a traditional Calvin Klein tuxedo, but pulled out his Coast Guard sword for cake cutting later in the afternoon. The bride and her maids carried bouquets of ranunculus and Icelandic poppies designed by Studio Choo, who also used Yooli's favorite bold shades in arrangements for the reception.

The couple married at Old St. Hilary's Church in a morning ceremony, then invited guests to a luncheon at Servino Ristorante in Tiburon; their reception room looked out onto the San Francisco skyline, the bay and Angel Island, affording each seat a stunning view. The classic vanilla cake was made by Sunset Bakery, and guests enjoyed a second sweet treat as Yooli shipped her new husband's favorite ice cream, "Superman", from the Midwest.

Thomas Hughes Films was on hand to capture their big day on film, and Megan Clouse took these stunning photos; I'm so delighted that she shared them with me!

Wow, I never thought our little budget DIY wedding would make a blog! Thank you for the wonderful compliments! I had been a little sad about having a rainy day wedding until we got our pictures back. We really lucked out and had the best vendors. Obviously our photographer, Meg Clouse, deserves most of the credit here - she made our wedding look like a million bucks!
