Vacation, All I Ever Wanted

Monday, May 16, 2011

It's true, I can't stop dreaming about vacation. While I'll be hard at work this week, lucky John is actually headed to the Gulf shores of Alabama for a little fun in the sun and some time with his family! They've always vacationed together on the Gulf coast, and I'm starting to see the wisdom of a favorite spot: it's like a second, sun-filled home!

Do you guys have favorite vacation locations, or did your family always go somewhere new? My parents love the "adventure" of driving down one way roads in the wrong direction, deciphering menus in every imaginable language and the thrill of traveling into the unknown, but I have a sneaking suspicion I'll always dream of going back to my favorite beaches every summer!

P.S. I'm guest posting at {av}'s divine blog, long distance loving today; if you're in the mood for a little San Francisco City Hall elopement, come take a peek!

  8. I love exploring new places so we don't usually go back to the same spot twice. But I think we could make Wine Country our vacation spot of choice since it's so sentimental and all :) We're going on vacation next week to Florida - staying at my husband's nanny's condo she's got in Clearwater. Maybe that could be our new vacation spot (although I'm thinking I"d prefer somewhere else!).

Also, your comment on our good news was hilarious and sweet all at once - thank you!!

  9. what a timely post! My husband and I have been talking about getting a cottage/chalet- I also love the adventure aspect of life and travel-
Don't know that I have an answer.
I grew up in Toronto but we have a farm with a cottage about an hour and a half outside the city- They didn't purchase it until I was 12 so I never felt like it was where I wanted to spend my weekends- They did travel with me alot though-

  30. Our family had a cabin and we always went up north for the summer where it was cool (a necessity in Az). We could fish, play games, hike- all without the distraction of TV, computers, phones etc. We no longer have a cabin but I still long to head up north and just be able to relax.

Every year our parents took us out of school for two weeks and we were in heaven!!! Later on in highschool my mom and I would go to PV every summer for a girls trip. I miss family vacations. 38. When my husband and I were dating we had the most amazing weekend in the Napa Valley. We actually both vividly remember sitting on a bench at Honig and falling in love. {We had only been dating for a couple of weeks} But from that moment on, Napa has always held a special place in our hearts. But I love anywhere that involves getting away to relax, explore, eat fabulous food, and drink amazing wines, or rum punches, or cold beers . . . where are your favorite beaches? xo Samantha ps. Your parents sound so lovely.
