Sweet Tea

Friday, May 20, 2011

With John still traipsing around the South, I have a hankering for a bit of Southern sweet. The first thing I reach for? Sweet tea, of course!

Amended for my darling Southern readers who hate sweet tea:
While John's family likes their tea well-sugared and I think at least one aunt may live on the stuff (Hi, Aunt Jenny!), I prefer mine with more of a bite, and always use just a bit of honey or agave syrup instead. I've made a dent in the pitcher of iced tea in our fridge, but I'm sure the moment John gets home tomorrow that it'll all be gone!

For those of you looking for your Friday cocktail, fear not! Add 1 1/2 oz of vodka and you're enjoying an Ice Pick, or throw in lemonade too and you'll be sipping on a John Daly cocktail, the alcoholic version of the classic Arnold Palmer!

Tell me, what are your plans for this weekend? Cheers, ya'll!

  3. Confession time: I'm a bona fide southerner, but I don't like iced tea (sweet or unsweet -- my mama, a Tennessee gal, only drinks unsweet). That photo makes it look pretty darn refreshing, though! This weekend is our anniversary so Jon's whisking me away for a day or so somewhere yet to be announced, and we'll be eating year-old cake and re-creating a dish from our honeymoon on the actual day (Sunday). Have a great one!

  4. I can't do sweet tea, I like my tea straight up with no sugar and no lemon. However adding a little alcohol never hurt anyone ;-)

  13. The first time I tried John's mama's sweet tea, I could hardly believe it-it was brown sugar water! She's since cut down on the sugar a lot, but I still need TEA in my iced tea, too!

  23. I'm Cape Cod gal, so sweet tea is in my blood. We almost exclusively live on iced tea with lemonade all summer long, save for the evenings when it's a nice cold draft ;)
