Sweet Dreams

Thursday, May 12, 2011

When my parents were first married, they lived in a little cottage in Malibu on the beach. One birthday, my mom came home to find my dad had painted their house precisely this shade of blue green, which my dad named "Happy Birthday Blue"-and when I saw this photo, my heart stopped! Not only is this confection by the Cakery an unwitting tribute to my folks, the combination of buttercream pearls and sugar anemones is darling! Can't you imagine find tangy lemon curd and raspberry filling in that gorgeous cake?
