You can be sure the Colonial Cocktail will be on my mind tonight-after Blogger's difficulties yesterday, I find this morning that weeks of posts have been deleted! It may be 10am, but I'm ready for a stiff drink!
Colonial Cocktail
1 1/2 oz of gin
3/4 oz of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
1/2 oz of maraschino liquor
Combine ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously for no more than 10 seconds; strain and serve in a cocktail glass.
Notes: London gins like Plymouth or Miller's will pair beautifully with grapefruit juice and maraschino liquor, but feel free to use whatever you have on hand!
Hunt for Luxardo, wrapped in straw, if you need a bottle of maraschino liquor; it's not much more expensive, and you'll love the way it looks in your liquor cabinet!

ReplyDeleteWhile I have never heard of this cocktail before, and while gin isn't my favorite...this sounds quite yummy with the grapefruit in it! And for some reason, it seems so fitting for a formal wedding! And yes, I too was ready for a cocktail by 10 am ~ thanks blogger ;-)
