After yesterday's gorgeous, understated wedding, the one detail I can't get out of my mind is their classic cake topper. There's something so romantic and hopeful about them; while your mom or grandmother's topper is a perfect way to pay homage their happy marriages, you can also find a topper to compliment your favorite decade or theme. The amazing collection at
Fancy Flours is a dream to peruse, and you won't find a single tacky topper there!
What do you think; are cake toppers are sweet, retro touch or do they miss the mark completely?

Cake toppers are the perfect retro touch! They are a piece that will never go out of style for me:)
ReplyDeleteI love vintage cake toppers, Lena. The one from yesterday's wedding you featured, is simply perfect :)
ReplyDeleteThese cake toppers are so sweet. They remind me of my parent's wedding cake.
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree cake toppers can be really fun. Love vintage ones, xoxo, chrissy.
ReplyDeleteohhh i love how the cake topper can bring in such a pretty detail in such an understated {or extreme} way!
ReplyDeletelove the flowers on top too.
ReplyDeleteI think it's funny that they're making such a comeback. I love them so long as it's not the bride dragging the groom down the aisle one...
ReplyDeleteI'm not gonna lie - the cake topper at our wedding was a HUGE hit. I loved it with all my heart and we have it proudly displayed on a bookshelf in our living room. I think a cake topper, whether classic or modern, is a great idea and one that shouldn't be overlooked!
ReplyDeletei really love wedding toppers, i think they are so sweet. i would love to use two glass blue birds that h's mom gave us last year but they might be too heavy... we'll see! xoxo jcd :: cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteI heart cake toppers. Etsy is another great place to start. Got mine there and they sit in my hutch and make me smile everyday.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I love cake toppers! They are sweet and romantic traditions to hold on to forever.
ReplyDeletei like 'em! I'm a fan of just two initials too, simple and what not
ReplyDeleteCake toppers are always such a cute addition to any wedding cake. I'm adding one to mine when I get married in June!

i loooved our cake toppers, but it was definitely hard to find ones that weren't super cheesy!
ReplyDeleteMmmm..maybe it depends on the cake, but I love cake toppers...

Seeing these images I was very inspired!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is beautiful and inspiring, I became a fan.
i love cake toppers, we had little birdies on our cake
ReplyDeletecake toppers for me depend entirely on the cake. its all about staying true to your personal style and the vibe of the overall event.
ReplyDeletewe didn't have one b/c I couldn't find one that I liked & loved the sleek, clean look of our cake. but I wish I had used one (esp. a vintage one!).
ReplyDeleteIf we have them, I'm pretty sure we'll use a pair of lovebirds. It's been "our thing" since the beginning.
ReplyDeleteso cute - i love when cake stoppers represent the couple in a special way.
ReplyDeleteI love cake toppers, vintage, modern, unique! We had an all white modern cake topper, bride and groom that had a heart connected to it, one of those faceless ones...loved it! :)
ReplyDeleteI really like cake toppers, especially the clothes pin ones you posted a while back!
ReplyDeletei really don't know how i feel. mostly i find them sort of frustrating (you just spent HUNDREDS on a cake and now everyone's just staring at your $10 topper!) but i have seen some really fantastic ones that just get me - usually involving a couple's pet :)
ReplyDeleteon the fence!
oh no I think they are sweet. Cake toppers are hard ones!
ReplyDeleteI die for classic cake toppers like this one! They're so hard to come by--I still keep my eyes out for them! Is that weird!? ;) Happy Friday, my love! xoxo {av}
ReplyDeleteI love them, but sadly, I have not found the perfect one for my own wedding yet. And it's a month away! So I don't think I will have one.
ReplyDeleteSimple, sweet and fabulously vintage ~ does it get any better than that??? ;-))
