Romney and Daron

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

When a fashion editor and a designer and manufacturer get hitched, you can be sure the results will be nothing less than chic-and Romney and Daron are the very height of it! They imagined a wedding that combined Hollywood Regency and Asian-inspired minimalism, and their event designer Adam Leffel helped bring this stylish celebration to life!

The bride wore a tea-length Fendi gown sparkling with sequin embellishments, and paired it with an Oscar de la Renta headpiece, Irene Neuwirth necklaces in rose gold and pink moonstones and gold lace-up sandals from Givenchy. Flower girls wore J.Crew dresses and wreaths of roses, although only one made it down the aisle, and the couple's cocker spaniel, Jah, also wore a wreath of flowers to serve as the ring bearer. Bridesmaids wore simple floor length black gowns, and the groom and his groomsmen wore classic tuxedos. Daron accessorized his custom suit with Tiffany & Co gold knot cufflinks, a monogrammed dress shirt and a classic Rolex watch.

The couple and their photography, Linda Wallace, used New York City as the perfect backdrop for a wedding day photo shoot, and snapped shots of the couple in front of Tiffany's, Central Park and Times Square.

They were married in a traditional Jewish ceremony, and signed a ketubah purchased just before the ceremony from J.Levine Books and Judaica. Studio 450 provided a blank canvas for Romney and Daron's nuptials and stunning views of the New York City skyline. A birch branch huppa was placed in the center of the ceremony space and candles graced every surface, filling the room with warm, flickering light. Guitarist John T. La Barbera played during the ceremony and cocktail hour, while popshop! djs kept the tone of the reception playful and fun.

The couple served a meal that nodded to their heritage; an amuse bouche of chilled borscht and crême fraiche was followed by a baby heirloom tomato and red onion salad, and a watermelon, mint and feta salad. The pair course paired grilled flank steak with chimichurri sauce and pan-seared halibut over vegetable couscous, all executed by Real Food Catering.

The bride changed into a silk 3.1 Phillip Lim gown for the party, paired with crystal-embroidered Vera Wang sandals and crystal jewelry by Lee Angel. A classic Russian Neapolitan cake, topped with an vintage topper spotted on eBay, honored Daron's Russian heritage, while macarons from the Macaron Cafe provided a desirable crunch and a bit of Parisian flair!
