Atta Boy!

Friday, April 15, 2011

Essentially a dry martini with touch of grenadine, this brilliantly colored libation is well worth hunting down a truly delicious pomegranate syrup. Forget the Rose's that made its way into your Shirley Temples as a kid; try Fee Brothers' American Beauty or Small Hand Foods grenadine, both of which you can order online from my very favorite shop, Cask.

Atta Boy

1/2 oz of dry vermouth
1 1/2 oz of gin
shy 1/4 oz of grenadine

Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice; shake for no more than 10 seconds. Strain and serve in a chilled cocktail glass.

Notes: As usual, I'll suggest Plymouth gin for this cocktail; a low-profile gin lets the flavor of a high quality grenadine shine.

After a very successful performance last night (imagine if your musical idol picked up your guitar and started playing!) and a very long week, John and I will be enjoying steak frites and a bottle of wine tonight! Tell me, what are your plans for this weekend?
