As a flowergirl at my nanny's wedding, my best friend Kelly and I were caught in the act-someone snapped photos of us enjoying fingerfuls of icing from the wedding cake! It's still hard to resist swiping a bit of icing, especially when it's as lovely as this beautiful confection, although now I usually wait until I've been served!
'Fess up-what's your sneakiest cake story?

Icing on the Cake.
Swipes of icing are the most fun..they always make you smile :) I don't know about sneaky, but on our wedding day as we did the obligatory cake feeding, I put just a dab of icing on my new hub's nose, and it was followed by a super sweet moment all caught on video. It's one of my fave parts of our wedding dvd!
ReplyDeletecake is my all time favorite!!! any kind of cake as long as the icing is delish:0

Gorgeous cake!!! Chocolate inside would make it even better!!!!
ReplyDeleteI usually am not big on sweets but lately that is all i crave!
ReplyDeleteIn South America they don't have the wedding cake at the wedding! The wedding party has it the next day when they open gifts.

This is so yummy. Thank you very much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteStunning cake!!!
ReplyDeleteAh! A girl after my own heart...
ReplyDeleteOne I made an angel food cake and it fell flat at the top. It was being covered in whip cream anyways, so I "built" a new top out of whipped cream! Not exactly the healthiest... but no one complained. ;)
Oh my gosh that is too cute and too funny!
ReplyDeletehaha cute story! but i plead the fifth on my sneaky cake story ;)
ReplyDeleteooo, what's not to love about cake? Especially this pretty little one?
ReplyDeleteomg! when I was a kid, I was at my friends house one afternoon & her mom had just finished icing a chocolate cake and she didn't allow us to eat it. So we waiting until she left and my friend cut a huge piece in the middle and then stuffed it with paper towels and frosted it just like we saw on the Cosby Show.
ReplyDeleteYeah we got in trouble but that cake was soooooo good! lol
What a gorgeous cake! I want. Very badly. Immediately. :)
ReplyDeletei bet you were the cutest little flowergirl ever...and i beg you to share that photo!
ReplyDeletethat cake is BEAUTIFUL.
ha! I just had the best picture in my head: you as a kid, all dressed up in your wedding best with frosting all over your face.
ReplyDeleteI love icing too :) It's always the best part of the cake, unless that cake is red velvet, in which case the entire cake is equally fantastic.
ReplyDeleteDang! Gorgeous! I don't really have a cake story, besides eating the left overs straight from the freezer! yum!

My 2.5 year old son James LOVES icing! When ever I treat him to a donut or a cupcake, he only eats the icing. But it actually works out just perfectly, because I prefer the cake! ;) Hope you are having a lovely week!

is it weird that i've never had wedding cake before?
ReplyDeletebut i do enjoy those duncan hines/betty crocker cake mixes and frostings! i always dip into the frosting before icing the cake. oooh and the cake batter is yummy, too!
aww too cute! i love eating cake batter.. and cookie dough.. and muffin mix..so its always difficult for me to make something w/out trying the mix before :) i usually wait to the end and the bowl/spoon are all mine! xoxo jcd :: cornflake dreams
ReplyDeletethat is cute! I'm glad you are able to wait now days- have a great day!
ReplyDeleteohhhhhh yum!! i LOVE cake!! buttercream frosting is my fave!! :)
ReplyDeletesuch a funny story! next time, you'll just have to make sure no cameras are around :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm reminded of Sex and the City when Miranda makes a cake. She keeps slicing off tiny pieces and finally throws it away. Then she takes a piece out of the trash! I can honestly say I'e never been that bad.
ReplyDeleteI love that you were the flower girl for your nanny's wedding!
ReplyDeleteso, so pretty & dainty!!
ReplyDeleteI don't care how pretty that cake is I'm eating it...after we've ogled and taken pictures!
ReplyDeletewhat a pretty cake. I cant really remember a time when I sneaked a little cake but I am sure I have done it at least when I was younger...its just so good
ReplyDeleteWith this work of art I would feel guilty swiping a bit of icing :)

my best gay boyfriend and i went to a co-worker's wedding and while she and her husband were off having their first dance we cut the cake. no jokes. just a little bit at the back. he said to our other friends: get a picture of me and carrie cutting the cake. it's the closest my mother's ever gonna get of me at a wedding cutting a cake.
ReplyDeletewe still have the pictures around somewhere. the bride didn't even notice until we told her. thank GOD she rolled laughing.
ps-he's now married. take note: i'm not.
BAHAHA!

What a cute story and a beautiful cake! I think my best cake story was accidentally ruining a cake I baked for my dad... by dropping it! Fortunately a local bakery was there to save the day! xo style, she wrote
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely story. Loved being able to picture you as a flowers girl as your nanny's wedding. So precious :)

oooooo i love swiping icing from cakes!! it just tastes yummier that way :)
ReplyDeleteI must say that Nick and I are cake tasting pros. I am not kidding. Not wanting a cake at their wedding could make or break whether we move forward with a couple! :)
ReplyDeleteI am one of those late night cake eaters. I tip toe out to the kitchen late at night and take the smallest thinnest sliver I can front the cake pan. Ten min later I'm back for more.
ReplyDeleteI want to see the photos!! I never got to be a flower girl :(
ReplyDeleteI love swiping a taste of the icing!! This cake is gorgeous... love a simple cake that has textured details.
