Icing on the Cake

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

As a flowergirl at my nanny's wedding, my best friend Kelly and I were caught in the act-someone snapped photos of us enjoying fingerfuls of icing from the wedding cake! It's still hard to resist swiping a bit of icing, especially when it's as lovely as this beautiful confection, although now I usually wait until I've been served!

'Fess up-what's your sneakiest cake story?

  1. Swipes of icing are the most fun..they always make you smile :) I don't know about sneaky, but on our wedding day as we did the obligatory cake feeding, I put just a dab of icing on my new hub's nose, and it was followed by a super sweet moment all caught on video. It's one of my fave parts of our wedding dvd!

  4. I usually am not big on sweets but lately that is all i crave!
In South America they don't have the wedding cake at the wedding! The wedding party has it the next day when they open gifts.

  6. Ah! A girl after my own heart...

One I made an angel food cake and it fell flat at the top. It was being covered in whip cream anyways, so I "built" a new top out of whipped cream! Not exactly the healthiest... but no one complained. ;)

  9. omg! when I was a kid, I was at my friends house one afternoon & her mom had just finished icing a chocolate cake and she didn't allow us to eat it. So we waiting until she left and my friend cut a huge piece in the middle and then stuffed it with paper towels and frosted it just like we saw on the Cosby Show.
Yeah we got in trouble but that cake was soooooo good! lol

  12. ha! I just had the best picture in my head: you as a kid, all dressed up in your wedding best with frosting all over your face.

  13. I love icing too :) It's always the best part of the cake, unless that cake is red velvet, in which case the entire cake is equally fantastic.

  15. My 2.5 year old son James LOVES icing! When ever I treat him to a donut or a cupcake, he only eats the icing. But it actually works out just perfectly, because I prefer the cake! ;) Hope you are having a lovely week!

  21. I'm reminded of Sex and the City when Miranda makes a cake. She keeps slicing off tiny pieces and finally throws it away. Then she takes a piece out of the trash! I can honestly say I'e never been that bad.

  28. my best gay boyfriend and i went to a co-worker's wedding and while she and her husband were off having their first dance we cut the cake. no jokes. just a little bit at the back. he said to our other friends: get a picture of me and carrie cutting the cake. it's the closest my mother's ever gonna get of me at a wedding cutting a cake.

we still have the pictures around somewhere. the bride didn't even notice until we told her. thank GOD she rolled laughing.

ps-he's now married. take note: i'm not.

    BAHAHA!

  29. What a cute story and a beautiful cake! I think my best cake story was accidentally ruining a cake I baked for my dad... by dropping it! Fortunately a local bakery was there to save the day! xo style, she wrote

  37. I am one of those late night cake eaters. I tip toe out to the kitchen late at night and take the smallest thinnest sliver I can front the cake pan. Ten min later I'm back for more.
