For Japan, With Love

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

The devastation in Japan following an 8.9 magnitude earthquake and resulting tsunami stopped us all in our tracks; the images of so much destruction were heartbreaking. Lydia of Ever Ours and Lucia of Utterly Engaged weren't content to watch the news in stunned silence though, so they started an amazing relief effort and encouraged their fellow bloggers to spread the love.

All the donations to For Japan, With Love will go to ShelterBox,
which provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters. ShelterBox is already helping the Japanese recover from this staggering tragedy, giving out their large, green ShelterBoxes. Each is tailored to a particular disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.

In addition to donations, they have started a Bloggers' Day of Silence in honor of the tragedy. My blog and many others will be silent on Friday, March 18th, and I hope you'll join us in this show of support.

If you're interested in participating, contact Lydia {lydia@ever-ours.com} or Lucia {info@utterlyengaged.com} for more information.
