Emily Post's Coasters

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

John and I are planning a housewarming party to celebrate our quickie move, and I've been reading Emily Post on Entertaining to make sure I know all I need to about R.S.V.P.s and hors d'oeuvres! One thing Ms (Elizabeth) Post continued to mention was coasters-it's simply not polite to set your drink down any old place!

While charming cocktail napkins might have to do for our upcoming fête, I love the idea of these Simplesong coasters, spotted on 100 Layer Cake; they feature the recipe for the event's signature cocktail, a classic mint julep. It's a great way to let your guests know what they're sipping on and save the furniture!

  2. I guess that etiquette doesn't mention coasters (as well as ashtrays) about "formal" tables..but who cares if we're talking about a housewarming party?! Your idea about recipes is so cute and yes, please, so useful for furniture-saving!!!
    Enjoy, darling!

  3. Right now we have a bunch of old coasters that came from beer boxes from long ago... I would love these! Or even better, coasters with Emily Post lines on them so I know I'm always being polite.

    Congrats on your house warming!

  26. These are great!! We're having a big housewarming party next week but since it's the end of summer we're making the most of the sun (hopefully) and having a bbq so it will mostly be outside. I might have to plan more of a cocktail party just to have an excuse to provide such cute coasters!
