the Right Recipes

I love the Southern tradition of throwing a "Recipe Shower" for the blushing bride-to-be; each guest brings a favorite family recipe, along with a gift that will expedite the process (like a pasta maker for Nana's ravioli or a bottle of cognac for those sautéed mushrooms Dad makes every Christmas). But the very best gift for a girl getting so many recipes is a chic receptacle for them, which is precisely where this divine box from sugar paper comes in! Aren't the scalloped recipe cards adorable?

How did you keep track of all your favorite recipes? While I have a book with some family legends, most of my dishes are saved in the "Recipes" file on my computer!

  1. I tried to collect some recipes from friends when I got married, didn't have such a chic (and hot pink, I love it) receptacle though. My fave recipes are either in scattered sheets or post-it (can I use the plural for post-it?). Now I'm dreaming of that hot pink box. All the best, talk soon :)

  2. Oh, this is a fantastic idea for a gift!!! I keep mine in a recipe book that my mom started filling out for me years ago. There's something quite appealing about adding a pretty recipe box into the mix, though.

  6. I love the scalloped edges. Adorable!

I keep all mine in a binder with plastic sleeves. I've had about a 5 year subscription to cooking light so I tear out a lot of magazine pages!

  7. aww this is really pretty! My ladies did the same idea but gave me a really fun recipe book from Anthropologie to hold all the recipe cards. Then they threw in pretty Anthro baking accessories - best idea ever. Recipe Showers are my favorite:)!

  12. I only have one recipe that is actually written on a card! And it's on our fridge. My bff got a recipe box at her bridal shower and she was really excited. Our guest book was taken from the recipe box design so we can easily use it for that purpose should we ever receive good recipes on paper. We have tons of leftover cards and nothing about it actually says bride and groom so I think we're all good to go!

  18. This is a lovely idea and I know that I cherish my recipe box. It's filled with sweet recipes for baked goods passed down by my Grandma. My mom also included some of my favorites and I use these recipes often!

  19. I've never heard of a recipe shower before! What a fun idea! This box is so darling and I love the scalloped dividers. I also recently read about a "Stock the Cellar" shower on Weddingbee! A bottle of wine from everyone, and a little note attached about how they discovered it!
