a Wedgewood Wedding

Thursday, January 27, 2011

You may not be able to round up 150 Wedgewood place settings for the big day, but I love the idea of using a classic china pattern as fondant inspiration! John and I devoured two seasons of Cake Boss recently, and my obsession with confections has reached a fever pitch!

What do you think the best looking cakes include? Do you go for lots of detail, or do you keep it simple? I'll tell you my answer-I'm a sucker for buttercream cakes with simple pearl beading!

  8. geeze. I love Cake Boss lol.i watched the seasons I could back to back man huddled under my dark covers watching it in the small screen of my phone :)
I like the patterns.. something that is simple, but still lovely like the one you posted today is a good example of that. Im not a big fan of the "mad hatter" type cakes.. I like both the dirty iceing look and the smooth too..

  9. I love that one, classic. I heart buttercream with coconut. I don't know why but the coconut covered cakes always look so pretty to me, like fallen snow.

  12. Buttercream cake with pearl beading was our wedding cake! We just added our cake topper and some lavender/white roses and voila! I just think the taste of the cake matters most but it is always fun to see elaborate cakes made!

  21. I'm right there with you, Lena. There is something about a buttercream and simple pearl beading that will last through the ages. To me, it's all about the cake stand - throw a simple cake on a fun colored cake stand and it's perfect:)
