a Lovely Morning

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

There were so many sweet things about Kathleen and Jonathan's wedding: the wedding favors-honey, the Southern charm of a Georgia affair and of course, the bride's Swiss dot Christos wedding gown. But this photo, captured by Our Labor of Love, might just be the most beautiful thing of all. Her ivory skin, the gorgeous light and that amazing bouquet by Julie Coffin of Unique Floral Expressions are absolutely stunning.

The bride also writes an amazing blog, chronicling her planning: a wedding runs through it. I'm in Heaven.

Miss Multi-Tasker

Don't you love these adorable images from Kate Spade's fall advertising campaign? Playful and perfectly styled-just one more reason to love Ms Spade! Photos via Ritzy Bee.

I'm certainly the Multi-Tasker on this Monday morning; who are you?

Real Wedding: Jenna and Ross

Sunday, August 29, 2010

Mr Wonderful was standing behind me as I flipped through one gorgeous wedding after another; when we came on Jenna and Ross' celebration in British Columbia, all he said was, "Wow." And really, that was all I needed.

The stunning location, the Emerald Lake Lodge in Field, BC, is so breathtakingly beautiful that anything would look better set against it. In Jenna and Ross' case, their gorgeous and thoughtful planning made this an unforgettable event.

The bride wore a knockout "Torrean" gown by Watters; her Lo Boheme blusher veil and Kate Spade heels completed the whimsical look. Her 'maids wore J.Crew dresses in an orange sherbet hue, while waiting at the alter was Ross in a gray suit, also by J.Crew. The girls carried large yellow and peach pinwheels by Rule 42 down the aisle while Jenna carried a lush bouquet of peonies and roses designed by Willow Haven Flower Shop. The ceremony path was lined with more colorful pinwheels and pom poms; the Ghost chairs were chosen so that nothing would obstruct the gorgeous view of Mount Burgess. Vintage handkerchiefs were collected and handed out to each guest for their tears of joy, and harpist Deborah Nyjack provided the ceremony music.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed champagne on the patio while they watched two baby bear cubs play across the lake. Bride and groom donned Hunter wellies for portraits, then joined their guests for a lovely meal. A simple cake by the Buttercream Bake Shoppe was topped with a replica of the newlyweds, constructed by the Small Object. Guests celebrated the culmination of the week-long wedding celebration with a sparkler send-off, and Kirstie Tweed of Orange Girl Photographs lovingly captured each moment.

Saturday Sweets

Saturday, August 28, 2010

I simply adore this ring shot by Marianne Wilson, featured this week on Style Me Pretty. I was so busy the last few days that I didn't get to enjoy any of the loveliness my favorite reads featured until this morning, and boy was my Google Reader filled with goodness!

How are your weekends shaping up?

a Mint Julep

Friday, August 27, 2010

It's the last Friday in August, and what better way to celebrate the end of the summer than with a classic mint julep? My Southern gentleman provided his very secret recipe for this traditional libation.

Mint Julep

2 oz bourbon
confectioners' sugar
mint

Muddle 2 demitasse spoons of sugar with 2 oz of bourbon in a mint julep cup. Press several sprigs of mint into the mixture. Fill half the cup with crushed ice and stir to frost cup. Sprinkle additional confectioners' sugar and ice to fill the cup. Soak the top with bourbon or Jamaican rum. Garnish with fresh mint.

a Bit of Baby's Breath

Thursday, August 26, 2010

I am head over heels for this beautiful photograph, captured by Orange Passion Photography of British Columbia. Emily and Glenn's lovely wedding was featured in its entirety on the Wedding Chicks last week, but I couldn't get this image out of my head. The combination of the rough wooden planks, Vivienne Westwood's pop art peep toes and ethereal baby's breath is absolutely spectacular.

To send a letter

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

This Hemingway-inspired invitation suite by Lucky Luxe Couture Correspondence combines all my favorite things: airmail, vintage maps, touching quotes and beautiful penmanship! Designed for a couple who shares a love of travel (and the same wedding date as my stunning cousin, Lara), these beautiful papers have a letterpressed airmail border, vintage map envelope liner and a few perfectly imperfect ink blots.

"To send a letter is a good way to go somewhere
without moving anything but your heart."
