Cider Smash

Friday, December 3, 2010

Darling Annie of Marry You Me sent me a divine cocktail recipe last week, and it was so heavenly I had to share it with all of you! The Cider Smash is a cocktail that dates back to as early as the 1880's, and its holiday flavors are perfect as the weather gets cooler!

Cider Smash

2 oz of bourbon
1/2 tsp of freshly squeezed lemon juice
a dash of simple syrup
chilled sparkling apple cider

Combine bourbon, lemon juice and simply syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice; shake vigorously for no more than 10 seconds. Strain into a champagne flute or cocktail glass, and top with chilled sparkling cider.

Notes: A Cider Smash is the perfect opportunity to try bourbon if you're usually more of a gin or vodka drinker; Wild Turkey is actually one of the few US bourbons that uses exclusively non-GMO corn, and is delightfully inexpensive!

Have a wonderful weekend, darling readers!

  10. Yay! So glad you shared this - this drink is seriously so delish. I love adding a super thin apple slice into the drink. And swapping Applejack for bourbon makes it even applelier. :) Even non-drinkers enjoyed it!
