a Slice of Heaven

Thursday, September 16, 2010

On the first birthday John and I spent together as a couple, he decided that the perfect birthday cake for me would be red velvet. A Southern classic was only fitting, since I would be visiting his childhood Texas home. After John spent days baking one after the other, demanding perfect texture, color and consistency, he finally resorted to a local bakery! The cake they delivered was one of the most magical things I'd ever eaten; we decided right then and there that we'd serve red velvet cake on our big day. This image, c/o Martha Stewart Weddings, reminds me of that divine slice of cake-I may even have to find one this afternoon for a little mid-week treat!

What's your favorite cake flavor?

  2. Never tasted it or even heard of it, so don't think it's very common in Norway. But it looks yummy :)
