a Perfect Pie

Thursday, September 9, 2010

I hope you'll all allow me this brief foray into baking, because I have a recipe I cannot help but share with you all. You may be wondering what on Earth could move me from my usual course, and the answer is
nothing less than autumnal heaven.

Fall is one of those magical seasons where so many of my favorite things combine: plaid skirts, freshly sharpened pencils and crisp apples. And what better to do with all those lovely apples than bake a pie?
Bake a pie with Gruyère scattered through the crust.

Inspired by Pushing Daisies, which we recently started and sadly finished, the Rice and Spice Cupboard has a divine recipe for this delicious crust. I can vouch for its loveliness; I ate a slice and a half last night and another for breakfast this morning. The cinnamon sweetness of juicy McIntosh apples and the piquant Gruyère make for the best apple pie you've ever eaten. Try it this weekend-I promise you'll thank me!

  11. Oh my goodness oh my goodness! Gruyere in the crust? How is that I have never had this? So French! So Gourmet!

And I would LOVE it if you came! Just knowing you want to makes me so happy! And be prepared, it is very modern- very European Dance Theater. This style is very popular in France and Germany but hasn't quite caught on in the U.S. yet. But it is very thought provoking and has some great dancing in it.
