a Glass of Bubbly

This weekend I enjoyed my first "pre-ceremony cocktail hour", and what an ingenious addition to the celebration it was! In a family where dinner is often scheduled two hours before it begins, most of us have a reputation for being late. In fact, my nuclear family arrived at twenty minutes after the cocktail hour's official start to find a nearly empty room!

Not only did the pre-ceremony cocktail hour give guests a little wiggle room to arrive at the difficult-to-find venue, it gave everyone the opportunity to enjoy a celebratory glass of champagne!

So what do you think:
Would you have a pre-ceremony cocktail hour?

  2. Ha I think that it's a good idea! (As long as you have people who you know won't get drunk)

  6. I think it's a fabulous idea! We passed out bubbly directly after the ceremony...but to have it before would have been lovely too!

  7. We were told by our vendor to not serve alcohol before the ceremony. Instead, we invited guests to arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony to mingle and enjoy non-alcoholic refreshments. It just felt right to me even though we had no choice. But maybe that's because I was up in the bridal suite sipping champagne with my closest gals!

  8. Mo, I believe that was the case! I'm sure a glass of lemonade on a warm summer afternoon would be divine, but a little bubbly before was just wonderful!

  9. When I got married... some years ago, we offered a small coktail so that the guests could come closer ( many different countries around ) and it was fun! It makes the whole celebration a bit "easy going"
