It sounds awful, but there's nothing better after a long day than a Corpse Reviver No. 2. First published in the Savoy Cocktail Book, this libation is an early 20th-century concoction that was usually served the morning after a long night of drinking. Try to avoid the temptation to shake one up to get through the day!
Corpse Reviver No. 2
3/4 oz gin
3/4 oz Cointreau
3/4 oz Lillet
3/4 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
dash of Absinthe
Combine with ice in a cocktail shaker; shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Strain in a cocktail glass and add a stemless cherry.
Feel free to substitute Absinthe for Pernod, Herbsaint or other pastis.
