No 489: Real Organic Wedding: Paige and Kevin

This gorgeous wedding got quite a bit of blog attention; featured in the third issue of Utterly Engaged and on Once Wed, the stunning gown, gorgeous blooms and organic attitude caught everyone's attention. I've been saving it for months, waiting for the perfect, eco-friendly moment to share, and Earth Day has arrived!

The bride, Paige owns the incredible Bash Eco Events, so her wedding day was sure to be stylish and low-impact (on the Earth, that is). The couple was married at their home, and wanted an event that was "rustic, organic, earthy yet artfully modern with a bit of old world whimsy"-doesn't sound bad, does it?

The couple designed their own invitations and printed them on sustainably harvested birch wood from Night Owl Paper Goods. Kevin is a talented painter, hence that heavenly "Love is Sweet" mural on the garage door, and he created all the signage for the big day. In keep with their organic perspective, the tablecloths were made of natural hemp with ivory burlap runners, and organic, seasonal flowers were featured in the centerpieces, created by Seed Floral. Food and drink were also, naturally, organic (and delicious, I'm sure).

The incredible gown which for some is probably the highlight of the wedding is also a fabulous lesson in eco-friendly affairs and staying on budget. Paige fell in love with a St. Pucchi gown (and who could blame her?) that retailed for a cool $6000. So this clever bride rented it from One Night Affair for only $800! J.Crew shoes finished the look to perfection.

The day after, the newlyweds and their children planted all the succulents from the flower arrangements into pots for their yard and terrace, creating a permanent reminder of their happy day. The rest of the flowers and food were composted, along with the paper cocktail napkins. I love that this couple incirporated what was most important to them (each other, their children, saving the world) into this important day in their lives together. They're a shining example of just how gorgeous a green wedding can be! And on hand to capture it all was Charley Star; what beautiful images.
