No 391: Real Wedding: Mindy and Jonathan

Sunday, February 7, 2010

I loved this rainy Vermont wedding, and with all the mileage I've been getting out of my own wellies lately, I thought it was the perfect wedding to finish up this week. Mindy and Jonathan, New Yorkers who adore VT, were married at Riverside Farm in Pittsfield, VT, one of the most crushingly rustic wedding venues I've ever seen. Mindy carried a bouquet of white ranunculus which also made up Jonathan's boutonniere, but her bridesmaids carried gorgeous vintage crosses. They surprised all their guests mid-ceremony with a shot of Baileys and butternut schnapps, drunk in support of their union rather than they typical, "If there is anyone here who objects..." Mindy's gorgeous gown was inspired by Kiera Knightly in Pride and Prejudice and made by Alberta Ferretti, while Jonathan went the bespoke route. He chose Lord Willy's, a suit shop in NoLita which has unintentially found itself outfitting a number of stylish grooms with fantastic attention to detail.

This creative twosome decided to serve breakfast for dinner rather than the usual "chicken or beef" routine, and a sausage and egg casserole, pumpkin stuffed french toast, crispy bacon, cheese grits and doughnut holes with dipping sauces for dessert would be hard to ever turn down! Their reception space, decorated with mismatched chandeliers and sticking to a palate of white and green, featuring tulips, hydrangeas and, of course, more ranunculus is absolutely stunning. The wellies featured so prominently were more of an accident than anything else, since no one expected four inches of rain, but the newlyweds and their guests got into the spirit of things and had a wonderful time. And it was all beautifully captured by Susan Stripling.
