Aaron Neville-Eggnog night was a success! There's a half-frozen pitcher of homemade eggnog in the freezer and we can all do a passable impression of Aaron Neville's "Oh Holy Night", not to mention a full recycle bin, the true measure of a good party. We had fabulous hors d'oeuvres: proscuitto-wrapped mozzarella topped with basil, goat cheese and walnut crostini drizzled with honey, pâté de campagne and brie, not to mention a delicious, homemade gingercake. Besides the eggnog, we sipped Airmails and Hemingway daiquiris, and had a wonderful evening.
It made me think of how delightful an hors d'oeuvre reception could be: delicious, bite-sized nibblets rather than a heavy, plated dinner. No assigned seating and plenty of scintilating conversation (if your guests are such chatters). And did I mention that eating bite-sized food is so much fun?
