No 260: the "Sweet Treasure" Cakes

Friday, October 9, 2009

Since I still can't seem to find a copy of Martha Stewart Weddings' Fall Issue, I'll bring you some eye candy to enjoy. These cakes were all modeled after glorious movements in art and jewelry, and I'm sure none of you would be surprised to hear that as far as I'm concerned, the confection covered with swags of edible pearls and a Cartier solitaire on top takes my cake. The Grecian columns and gold fondant are so inspired, but the Art Nouveau cake was just so gorgeous. How could you even eat these? I'd have to have these sugar sculptures photographed into oblivion before I could let some greedy man with a cake knife (like John) have at them.
